SOUTH WEST TRAINS

Welcome to March - just an ordinary month - with just ordinary performance? (Not forgetting Easter)

Week x Mins Lost: 18
Friday 04 March 2005 Mins Lost: -4

0519 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : I wanted to get to work early today and I thought I would try the early train. The 0550 has a habbit of being cancelled or short formed so I decided upon the one before hand. It performed excellently - its a stopping service and spent 90 seconds at most stations. It's the last train from Portsmouth to stop at Clapham Junction for a couple of hours and we did so early - left exactly on time and then proved that you can do standing at Clapham to standing at Waterloo in six minutes and thus arrived four minutes early! Because I was so early, the Jubilee was behaving itself and I goto from Waterloo to work in super quick time!

1700 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour : Performed well, sitting at the usual places - although not for as long as usual! We did however sit north of Havant Junction because we were early! We arrived at Fratton on time - just!!!

0615 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : A nice good run, no delays and we glided into London Waterloo at 0754 - 1 minute early.

1800 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour : I really do hate this train - it is just soo busy but even taking that into consideration - it arrived at Fratton on time after a faultless run where we even waiting for a couple of minutes on the way.

Wednesday 02 March 2005 Mins Lost: 00

0647 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Not a bit run up to Waterloo - busier that it used to be before the timetable change. Seemed to run a little slow between Guildford and Waterloo (via the New Line) and arrived at 0834.

1630 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour : An unsual return working for me and not one that I remember catching before - I'm sure someone will correct me on that one though! It was formed of 8 slamdoor carriages and was so early that it waited at Woking for 1 minute, Guildford for 3, Haslemere for 2, Petersfield for 3 and arrived at Havant at 1646 - 2 early!

Tuesday 01 March 2005 Mins Lost: 00

0615 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Well after yesterday morning's delays it was nice to glide straight into London Waterloo at only one minute late - amusingly yesterday - one of the worst performing days since the new timetable began happened to be the day that SWT choose to annouce the best month's performance for years! Irony - never!

1715 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour : Having been delayed by the Jubilee Line on the way to Waterloo it was inevitable that I would stand next to the 1700 for 15 seconds only to wait it depart Waterloo at 16:59:58. I don't mind a train leaving on time - but early is wrong. That said - I shall measure the delay only on the 1715 and not from the time that I would have got back to Fratton if the other train had not left early. The train performed very well and even had to wait up to 90 seconds at the smaller stations on the way home. We finally arrived at Fratton at 1915.

Monday 28 February 2005 Mins Lost: 23

0615 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Well this was all going so well until we got towards Wimbledon where we crossed to the slow lines straight after the flyover and crawled from there right up to Waterloo. The cause was apparently signalling problems in the Queenstown Road area. We arrived at Waterloo at 0815, exactly 20 minutes late! Later trains were diverted up via the District Line to the 'wrong' side of Clapham Junction! Arriving at Waterloo was no better as the Jubilee line was closed, the Northern severly delayed and the Waterloo & City and Bakerloo heavily overcrowded!

1700 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Harbour : After the chaos of this moring it was nice to just run to time most of the way home but again sat outside Havant for a couple of minutes later and then crawled down to Farlington Junction arriving at Fratton three minutes late!
