| Week Six & Seven |
|
| Summary |
|
For these weeks I'm on a course in Cambridge and thus not commuting. Back to commuting proper on 04 October. |
|
| Week Four & Five |
|
| Summary |
|
I'm was on a course for the next two weeks so I wasn't too bothered about the quality of service. The main thing to report was that there were two cancellations/major delays within the week both involving 444 014. It was announced that the train was going to be 10 late and the station staff seemed amazed that I had predicted the unit that would be involved! Perhaps they should take note! |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Where do I start! It was 2 minutes late departing Portsmouth & Southsea due to a track circuit failure just outside Portsmouth Harbour. Thankfully there is 2 minutes recovery time at Havant so we left there on time. However upon leaving Petersfield we had to be cautioned past the automatic half barriers at Sheet which did not seem to be working properly and then we crawlled from Weybridge up to London Waterloo due to a signal failure in the Clapham Junction area. We arrived at 0815 - 24 minutes late! |
1751 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : After the crap morning this morning it was nice to have my train run on time. BUT: The train in front to Alton was cancelled therefore we had to make an extra stop at Woking and you've guessed it everyone and their wife got on our train because of this. You can tell it was busy - the guard finally got around to checking my ticket just before Havant! |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : After the hassle of yesterday morning it was nice for the train to run on time and it arrived at Waterloo 1 minute early. |
1720 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : The train departed a minute late and run up to two minutes late all the way back to Petersfield. By Havant it was back on time and kept time through to Fratton. For the second time in a week there was no ticket check. |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : TODAY IT ALL WENT WRONG!! I got to Portsmouth & Southsea ready to catch the train at 0622 and noticed that it was still in the Carriage Sidings - not unusual as they sometimes berth the trains in different places. The trains was shown as on time on the the departure boards, so I let the stopper go. Low on and behold, within three minutes of the stopper leaving, the fast service was advertised as delayed by five minutes and then at 0621 the train was annouced as cancelled due to break failure that could not be rectified by the fitters. (The same units were in service at Waterloo later that day). So I took the 0622 Southern service down to the Harbour to catch the 0649 service to Waterloo. This has three extra stops and was stupidly packed on arrival at Waterloo two minutes late. |
2140 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : This train was only formed of four cars and as usual at this time of day was late leaving by a couple of minutes however a quick run down to Woking mean that it was back on time by this point. It arrived without any problems on time at Fratton. |

| Wednesday 25 August 2004 |
Mins Lost: 01 |
0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : We ran on time until passing through Woking and then again seemed to run slow until just after Weybridge when it was then too late to make up the time we lost. We ended up only 1 minute late at Waterloo. |
1650 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : We left Waterloo and run early most of the way home, waiting at Stations until we were timetabled to leave and arrived at Fratton on time. |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : We ran on time until passing through Woking and then ran slow until just before Weybridge. We then ran as normal and arrived at Waterloo only 1 minute late. |
1650 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : We left on time and ran to timetable all the way back to Fratton. The only notable incident on the journey was when I asked the guard (who had recognised me from a train last week where I stood all the way back to Portsmouth) if there were many free seats towards the front of the train and his comment was 'Yes, first class has loads - go sit down I'll be round to check tickets in a minute!!!!' Cheers Mate! |

0649 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : No major problems but we were very slow after Havant until we got past Rowlands Castle and never made all the time up. We arrived at London Waterloo, 2 minutes down. |
1700 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : I just mnissed the 1650 due to the guard closing the doors a minute earlier than he should do so therefore I had already lost time before even getting on the train. Rather than wait, as I wanted to do some work on the train, I took the 1700 via Eastleigh service. I got on the thrid car from the buffers as usual and went to walk through the train. The driver, when attaching two units obviously had not secured the internal cab door correctly as there was a kid sat on the drivers seat!! A quick word to the guard so that he could do the necessary securing and a query as to whether there were first class upgrades on sale and before I knew it I was sat in first class without paying any extra - Bonus! This was the first serivce where I didn't have my ticket checked. We arrived at Fratton on time. |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Only morning train this week to have any major issue: We stopped at Rowlands Castle for 3 minutes due to a signal failure. At Petersfield we were still 3 down but arrived at Waterloo at 0752 only 1 minute late. |
1650 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : Finally, I managed to catch this train! (I've only been trying all week!). Left London Waterloo 1 minute late, arrived Fratton at 1813 on time. |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Left on time and although we were a bit slow through the Woking - Weybridge section of the journey, we arrived at Waterloo at 0751 on time. |
1720 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : Tonight this train was routed via Cobham (as it should be) for the first time since I've caught it. Howver: at Farncombe we had a chap who wanted to get off from coach 12 (at a 8 coach platform). At Petersfield we had a woman try and jump on as we were leaving! At Havant, someone had forgotten their coat! Left London Waterloo 2 minutes late, on time at Guildford, arrived Fratton at 1855, 6 minutes late! |

0617 Portsmouth Habrour - London Waterloo : Left on time, great journey and we arrived at Waterloo at 0748, 3 minutes early. |
1720 London Waterloo - Portsmouth Habrour : Left Waterloo on time and it was sunny and warm. By Clapham Junction the driver had slowed as there was torrential rain (I could not even see out the window). Just past the Wimbledon Park depot we ground to an emergency stop and sat there for 15 minutes, apparently due to a signal failure. We then got routed via Woking vice Cobham and just never caught the time up. We arrived at Fratton at 1905, 16 minutes late! |
